Student Opportunities

Leadership

As with any student organization, Delta Beta Crescent Colony has officers to run the meetings and committees to handle the day to day operations of the fraternity. Naturally, being an officer of committee member gives brothers plentiful opportunities to strengthen their leadership skills in real-world situations. The National Fraternity also sponsors other programs to develop leadership. All undergraduate members are eligible to attend one of three unique Leadership Academies as well as the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute.

  • Bethany Leadership Academy

Bethany, West Virginia is the origin of our fraternity and so it is a spot for a Leadership Academy. Here, the basis for the training is from Stephen Covey's bestselling book, The Seven Habits of High Effective People. Also, distinguished alumni offer their experiences as undergraduates and from their years after college. Participants in this Leadership Academy also get the chance to tour the Delta Tau Delta Founder's House as well as historic Bethany College

  • Sailing Leadership Academy

This Leadership Academy allows Delts to experience life on the high seas. They depart from Camden, Maine aboard the Schooner Mary Day and over the course of the academy, the participants gain a knowledge of sailing, navigation, chart interpretation, as well as developing leadership skills. This Leadership Academy also includes daily shore trips, wildlife viewing, and a ropes course.

  • Expedition Leadership Academy

Brothers who would enjoy a ropes course, rock climbing, and a three-day hike and peak climb will enjoy the Expedition Leadership Academy. These participants gain a rare view of their own leadership style through challenging their minds, bodies, and spirits.

  • Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI)

Sponsored by the North America Interfraternity Conference (NIC), UIFI is an individually centered program that assists fraternity and sorority members plan for future leadership responsibilities. Each person learns to understand themselves to become a better leader.

Education

Along with off leadership opportunities, DTD sponsors numerous educational programs designed to help brothers develop as people. Many of these programs occur on campuses and therefore are within easy reach by the undergraduates. Besides formal programs, Delta Tau Delta has supported many speakers to help members develop

  • Delts Talking About Alcohol (DTAA)

Drinking is a common practice among college campuses. DTAA was developed by the Prevention Research Institute to reduce the risk of any type of drug or alcohol-related problems throughout life, as well as during college. The program takes a non-judgmental approach and has helped to change the attitudes and behaviors of brothers

  • Livin' on the Edge

Livin' on the Edge is Delta Tau Delta's award-winning risk management video and presentation. Because of some recent tragic events in the Fraternal world, Delta Tau Delta has taken initiative and educates its members on the dangers of drugs, sexual abuse, property management, and alcohol, to prevent disastrous incidents from occurring.

  • International and Regional Conferences

Regional Conferences are held yearly in February and the International Conference, Karnea, is held biannually during the summertime. All conferences have various speakers, educational programs, and breakout sessions to develop brothers. Also, these conferences are a great way to meet brothers from across North America.
